Powtoon Ramadan Video

Video Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8R3lWs0H8U&rel=0

Introduction:

  • This is a video explaining the basic points to remember during Ramadan.

Skills I learnt:

  • Maintaining timing
  • including stuff that would engage the audience
  • making the video informative and interesting
  • working together
  • working with characters, animations and transitions
I was maintaining the time in the video as  we had to make the writing last for enough time for the audience to read but not too long so the audience wont get bored. I included characters, animations and transitions to engage the audience, as a software powtoon helps doing this easily. We had to put in information but we tried to make it colorful and in bullet points so it is easy to read. We worked together and split the work equally  so it would be fair, and we as a group were able to complete the video in time. I think overall powtoon is a great software to send a message and educate people while making sure that the audience is not bored.

Self Evaluation

REFLECTION:

I think I have successfully met the criteria for this project, I have done the booklet to the best of my ability so it is appropriate and informative for the target audience. I think the overall product looks very attractive, organised and neat as well as this it has accurate information in it. during this project, i face many difficulties, including missing lessons and having the idea that looked good on paper not looking good on the computer. Due to these issues I had to work on them at home as well as make some major changes in the way my final product looks, though I now think that despite the changes the booklet still looks nice and has correct information in it that will attract the target audience. Next time I hope to be able to design an idea after some amount of research so I can be sure that the design will be a success and will look good on the final product. over all I am happy with the progress of my skills in Microsoft publisher and hope to improve them further.

Tearm Three Storage Devices- Booklet designs

Statement of inquiry:
Data storage has evolved through the technological advances in the medium of storage devices.

Introduction:
storage devices play a massive role in our day to day lives and we take the luxury of it for granted, in this unit i hope to learn the true technological aspect of storage devices

Global Context:
  • Information Literacy
we will use this when we are performing research about how we will design our booklet, as well as this when we are doing our research to fill in actual information about the various storage devices that we are using. As well as this we had to do research if we got stuck at any point while making our booklet, and because we had a set target audience we had to research ways and means of adapting the booklet so it seems attractive to them.
  • Communication
As we are going to present this to the year 7's we have to make sure that our means of communication is clear and comparatively simple for the students to understand. I will make sure that the writing will keep the audience captivated so they will read on. to do this i will use various fund and readable fonts, colors and sizes. This project will be testing our communication at a very high level as we have to communicate lots of complex research in the simplest form for the students to understand and learn thoroughly.

For this cover page design i decided to bind a few images together in order to create one design, it consists of a light bulb to show how the ideas are very smart, behind it is a pattern related to Information Technology. There will be big, bold writing for the title which will be eye catching.

This deisgn for the cover page is more appropriate for kids as the target audience, it is a brain in the shape of a light bulb as in the previous design. The designs around it are images of storage devices and as in the first deign the title will be eye catching and easy to read. I will choose this design for the cover page because it is more fun looking than the other one which will attract the target audience.

This is one of the designs i planned for the inside of the booklet, it is very basic and therefore it will be easy to comprehend.

This is design i will be choosing for the inside as it is easy to read and will be informative, it also has a good aesthetic presence and will be attractive to the target audience that wants information as well as good looks.

Self Evaluation

Thrisha and I presented out tech fair project to the class today, and I think our project was successful that is why we received a positive response from the class. when we presented we showed how the game worked and thankfully there were no difficulties in the game or keyboard. I think the effort that we put into this project despite the difficulties was clearly visible. the audience understood that we were doing this for a cause and supported it for the most part. to improve based on the feedback that we got we could recheck our game to make sure everything works as there were some minor sound issues. I want to thank my peers for the approving attitude they had towards out project and I hope the project that we did will actually help the society one day.

Evaluation on my peer's projects

Tech Fair project peer evaluation:
Kimberly and Ashlesha:
The students in the group were Kimberly and Ashlesha, the name of the project that they created was the Scrub Bot. This is a moving robot that is made out of 3 scrubbing brushes, batteries, computer fan, negative and positive wires and zip ties. The motor was self-made which is hard to accomplish. There were many positives in this project, one being that it is very helpful not only for cleaning but also in the field of abstract arts. It is an innovative project, and as they said is easy to make.  Some of the problems in this project were that finding the materials is difficult, if the materials are loose they will fall off which will cause the robot to stop working. One of the biggest problems in this project is that it only works on grass.  I think they should be going into the tech fair as their project uses a lot of self-made technology and is successful.
Samra and Racha:
The students in this group were Racha and Samra, the name of the project that they created was called the Nintendo phone. (Copyright) This is a 3D model made out of cardboard which carries a phone inside and has the same controls as a DS. I think that this project is not successful as it does not use technology in any form because it is just a model. They call it 3D though only the outside Is 3D, at least, the buttons could have been realistic looking. If this project is actually made some of the benefits will be that it will have a longer battery life, increase popularity for the DS and easily connect to Wi-Fi. I disapprove of these students going to the tech fair as their project has no technology in it.
Romee and Joudei:

The students were in the group were Romee and Joudei, the name of the project that they created was the Delivery bot. this is a remote control robot which is made of a cardboard box on top of a car. This project will help reduce the cases of back aches that students get while carrying heavy bags as it will carry them for you. It also had a portable charger in it to charge phones. Some of the bad things in their project was that they said it will reduce backaches which are caused by HEAVY bags but later mentioned that this can only carry light weights. It is also not sturdy and not what they said it would be like in their promotional video. I do not think this project should be a part of the tech fair as the technology part of it (charger and car) is not made by the students, it is only put together by them.
Sofiya and Sarah:
The students in this project were Sofiya and Sarah, they created a 3D projector hologram. this was a pyramid shaped see through pyramid that projected real like looking shapes when it was placed on a hologram video. it was made using old CD covers and tape. the video was not made by them and neither was the device which was the biggest con. some of the positives were that it was very entertaining and created a very strong illusion. they had put a lot of effort into the project as it was their third try making it though I think they should not go into the tech fair as they did not do the technological part, and didn't even attempt to do it.
Lyoma and Ahmed:
The students in this project were Lyoma and ahmed, they created a game called Veteren Warfare. This is a game in which the person playing the game will be doing all of the action, it was made using a software called unreal engine 4. The positives about this project is that it helps enhance creativity, improves hand eye coordination and is professional looking. Though some of the negatives that I noticed was that it was only designed, this means the parts of the game, like the guns and background were already made, which is a good skill but would have been better if it was completely coded by themselves. I think they should go to the tech fair as they used technology well to create something that would help the society.
Emil:
Emil has created a game called honor and conquest, it is a game that will teach little children to read in a fun way. It was made using a software called sploder, the children will be virtually trapped in a medieval world where there are demons kidnapping their family, to get out of the world they have too read and follow instructions that would lead them to read something even if it is in small pieces. the good thing about this project was that it was made to help people, enjoyable and challenging at the same time. the negatives were that it was not coded but designed and also time taking to make. i think he should go to the tech fair as his project is very helpful and uses technology.

Peer Evaluation- Evaluated by Racha

Your presentation was very appealing in both writing and presentation. The text used appropriate and accurate terminology and was appropriate to age group.  The idea was a brilliant and unique idea and am looking forward to seeing the finished product. One thing you could improve on is to make different titles for different article, so instead of putting  Inquiring and Analysis for many documents, it would be better if you added different titles to avoid confusion, another improvement is to either highlighting everything in one color rather than highlighting paragraphs in different paragraphs, other than that the project was AMAZING. Good luck!

Self Evaluation

Self-evaluation:

I think I have completed all of the required blog posts for the inquiry and analysis stage of this design cycle to the best of my ability. I think I have chosen an idea that can be made with minimal difficulties but along with this helps the society. This idea as mentioned in my older posts is a mix of mine and my partners research and that is why we have taken turns completing the tasks. As we both did individual research posts separately I created a post about our final idea, as well as this I made the video with all of the required information. My partner made the power point consisting of the four slides. I think I have contributed well in this pair work though I wish my partner did the same. From my side this stage has been productive as everything was done to a good standard and uploaded on my blog on time.

Inquiry and Analysis- lesson 2 working in pairs (Post by Hiya)

Inquiry and Analysis- lesson 2 working in pairs and deciding final project:

Unit: Tech Fair Project Global context: Scientific and technical innovation
Statement of Inquiry: Developments in technology could be seen as blessing or a curse depending on the impact it has on an individual or society.
Inquiry Question: How can we use Technology to help develop our ideas to create a masterpiece for the ‘Tech Fair’?
ATL: Thinking skills and research skills

What was the Product or Software developed and how does it work?

Brail keyboard and Learn to type game for blind children:

For this project i have decided to work with Thrisha in order to create a keyboard with brail writing on it, and along with that is a game that will teach them how to spell everyday words used in class and around the society by people. this will make the keyboard easy to use as well as make the disabled feel more comfortable being themselves.
For this we will be using a game app called scratch along with an old keyboard base, to do this we will take the keyboard apart by removing keys and the sheets and sticking rime stones in the shape of brail letters.
The game is going to be a maze that will tell the person through head phones a word to spell, then using the keyboard they will type the word that they are asked to and they will move a certain amount of steps and will eventually get to the end.

Pictures as inspiration for the project:

Who Developed it?

It was not previously developed- as far as we know- and it was a mixture of what me and Thrisha originally thought. As I decided to make something of dyslexics and Thrisha decided to make a game, we mixed my idea of helping disabled, we changed it into blind people as none of us are dyslexic so we couldn't make sure it works, so we changed the idea, and we will use her scratch idea to make it a fun experience.

How does the product help the society?

It helps the society as it changes the perspective of bind patients that they can fully use technology for their benefit. it will make the keyboard easy to use and once they are confident with the letters on the keyboard then they can start using that and normal keyboards in their everyday life including work or schools.

How we will make it?

Make a keyboard using an old one and take all of the keys off, then stick the rime stones on and connect it to a working monitor with the game on it. to make the game create background and characters and insert commands in it to use a voice for each word.

Critical Judgement:

Reflection on research:

This research project was very successful as me and my partner did our individual research to the best of our ability and when we came together we combined our ideas, Therefore, the rest of the research went smoothly and it was not too difficult to come up with an idea that is not only entertaining, but also helps the society greatly. We used the previous references as well as ideas that we used in the individual research which caused less waste of time on wrong sources, and a fast paced completion of criteria A.

Tech fair Inquiring and Analyzing

Tech fair project lesson 1- individual research

Task:

Idea 1:

My first idea is to create a hand crank flashlight which will require minimal materials as well as be very useful and comparatively less harmful to the environment. The idea will consist of a flashlight that will require a small motor to operate a LED light but unlike most lights that we use today it will not use any external sources of power (the power sockets that we use). This product will be a basic electronic device that will be easy to mimic by people in our society and it will be beneficial to them as well. some of the advantages of this product include; It doesn't use power sockets which means that less fossil fuels are formed therefore there will be less harm to the environment if it is used by enough people. it will not be as expansive because it consitist of most recylceable materials, it will also work in case of emergencies like power cuts or when batteries are scarce.

Idea 2:

My second idea is to do research on how technology can influence lives of deslyxc people in our society in a positive way. There are many components in the tools that we use today that could be useful to dyslexics, in my project I want to research them into more depth and create an informative and creative way to present this idea to our school community. the few tools I studied about are:
  • Tablets, iPads, phones, laptops and kindles:
all of these are very common devices with a high standard of technology within them, all of these consist of features that could be useful to dyslexics, for example the speech to text function on all of the keyboards, or the double tap to read text. this could be helpful as children and adults will not have to go through typing or trying to read off a screen that will make them loose interest in the job they have to do, in general this will make what they think is a hard thing simpler for them.

  • Apps
there are many apps that are readily available, these apps are of great use for dyslexics, they have many different textures and colors in their fonts which will help the user read easily for they way they learn, for readers that are not dyslexic they would find the app very confusing where as dyslexics would find it easy.

  • Live scribe Smart pen
dyslexics face difficulty in school while taking notes in classes, there is a smart pen that has been created that once turned on will record the voices during classes, along with it take pictures of your notes, therefore people that face difficulty in writing at a speed when extensive notes are required the notes from the pen will be easy to access and a much better and practical way for dyslexics to learn

Reflection on Criteria A:

The initial part of this research was the most challenging part, this was because we were exploring all the possible options that we could create. while doing this in my search engine I started very vague, I started by searching easy tech fair ideas. But most of the results that showed up were more related to science fairs, out of the few websites that I found about technology I looked at the ideas and eventually started to type those in, I found out that a  lot of these ideas used a lot of products from outside and in the end only required the parts to be joined, I personally felt that this would not be a creative and self-initiated idea. when I found the torch light I searched for tutorials on it and found all of the materials and methods to do it.

The next idea was thought about by me and I started by wanting to make a movie that would be clearer for dyslexics, but when I searched it there were no results that matched my search, then later I wen into finding ways technology can influence the lives of these people. when I searched a more specific search I found the information in detail that I was looking for.
